Recap: Mets lose 6-2

The Mets’ 4 game undefeated streak came to an end tonight when the Nationals beat them 6-2.

Mets got some not-so-great news on David Wright. He’s out indefinitely with a fractured pinkie, it’s nothing too serious but he’ll be out for a few games. Wright fractured his finger while sliding back to first last night after a pickoff attempt by the Nationals’ Edwin Jackson. He will wear a splint to protect his finger from any further damage.

Dillon Gee gave up 8 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk 1 homerun and struck out 6.

The offense was barely there tonight, but Ronny Cedeno’s performance was notable as he went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Last night’s hero, Daniel Murphy struggled tonight with 3 failed DP attempts, he also went 0-for-4. Lucas Duda continued his hitless streak by going 0-for-4 as well.

Ruben Tejada and Josh Thole continue their hitting with a hit a piece.

Offense:

  • Ruben Tejada (1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk)
  • Ronny Cedeno (3 hits, 1 RBI)
  • Daniel Murphy (-)
  • Jason Bay (1 hit, 1 run)
  • Lucas Duda (-)
  • Justin Turner (1 hit, 1 RBI)
  • Scott Hairston (-)

Recap: METS WIN 7-5!

The Mets sweep the Braves in a 3-game series!

Jon Niese flirted with history in today’s game. It’s been 7,971 games that the Mets have been without a no-hitter but Niese had one going into the 7th inning with a 7-0 lead. He showed us why he was given that new contract! His line for today: 6 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 7 K. Niese definitely had a game to remember.

The Mets had a total of 11 hits and are off to their best start since 2007, I’m sure we all remember that year. This is the Mets’ first sweep against a NL East rival to begin the season.

Ruben Tejada had himself a career-high 4 hits with 2 RBIs and two-runs scored!

Daniel Murphy also had a pretty good game, with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs!

David Wright is now 5 RBIs away from tying Darryl Strawberry’s all-time RBI record!

Mets closer, Frank Francisco is perfect in saves (3) this season!

  • Daniel Murphy (2 hits, 1 run, 2 RBIs)
  • David Wright (1 hit, 1 RBI, 2 walks)

Nieuwenhuis went 2-for-4 in his big league debut, he had a single in the 4th and another in the 7th!

METS WIN 3-0!!!!!

A 2-hit complete game shutout victory for Miguel Batista! It was a great game.

The end of the season has come and gone. No more Mets baseball until March (preseason). You have to admit, regardless of the record, this season was a success in many ways.

Jose Reyes was taken out of the first inning after his bunt single to raise his average to .337. It generate a negative reaction by many Mets fans and baseball fans in general. However, Terry Collins AND Jose Reyes made that move with a purpose. It wasn’t only Terry that made that move, Reyes had to agree, he didn’t argue with Terry so he can stay in the game. It’s not against the regulations of baseball, it’s been done before. It’s a risky move that takes a lot of guts to make. Now, we must wait. Good luck, Reyes!

Also, congrats to Mike Baxter on his first MLB homerun!

This offseason should be interesting. I’m really curious to see what Sandy Alderson and the Mets are going to do to fix the Mets’ problems.

The Mets finish the season 77-85.

I’m ready for 2012! Who’s with me?!

Next game: NEXT YEAR.
